The Defined Contribution Plan, established in July 1984 was begun as a supplement to the defined benefit plan.  The contributions paid by the employers on behalf of each participant are placed in an individual account on behalf of the participant.  Investment earnings (gains or losses) are credited to the account on an annual basis and at retirement the participant has a lump sum of cash for his retirement needs.
